About Surat

Surat, previously known as Suryapur, is a city in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is the administrative capital of the Surat district. The city is located 284 kilometres (176 mi) south of the state capital, Gandhinagar; 265 kilometres (165 mi) south of Ahmedabad; and 289 kilometres (180 mi) north of Mumbai. The city center is located 22 km (14 mi) south of the Tapti River.

Surat had a population of 4.6 million at the 2011 census, making it the second largest city in the state of Gujarat, after Ahmedabad. It is the eighth largest city and ninth largest metropolitan area of India. Surat is the 34th-largest city by area and 4th-fastest developing cities in a study conducted by the City Mayors Foundation, an international think tank on urban affairs. The city registered an annualised GDP growth rate of 11.5 per cent over the seven fiscal years between 2001 and 2008. Surat was awarded "best city" by the Annual Survey of India's City-Systems (ASICS) in 2013. Surat is selected as the first smart IT city in India which is being constituted by the Microsoft CityNext Initiative tied up with IT services majors Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro. In May, 2015 Tech giant IBM has chosen Surat among 16 global locations for its smart cities programme. The city has 2.97 million internet users which is about 65% of total population.

A moat divides the older parts of the city, with their narrow streets and historical houses, from the newer suburbs.

About Jalgaon

Jalgaon ( pronunciation ) is a city in western India, to the north of the Maharashtra state in Jalgaon District, which itself is located on the northern Deccan Plateau. Located within the productive, irrigated agricultural region of Khandesh, Jalgaon has a municipal corporation and had 460,468 residents at the 2011 census. Situated near the famous Ajanta Caves located just about 59 kilometers(36.6609 miles) away, is one of the key attraction places for tourists. Jalgaon is connected with Central Railway zone, National Highway No.6, and also has Airport.

Modern Jalgaon has major industrial areas, educational institutes and good hospitals. The city is well developed with good roads, shopping malls, residential areas, and also has good communication and transport infrastructure. Known as "Banana-City", it contributes to about half of the Maharashtra state's Banana production. The world's first Audio Guided Gandhi Museum "Khoj Gandhiji Ki" is situated at Gandhi Teerth, Jain Hills, Jalgaon. Gandhi Scholars and visitors from all over the world visit this place. In the museum, there is a large Gandhi Library and other Gandhi related material are available for study.

Jalgaon has relatively varied climate. It is exceptionally hot and dry during summer with temperatures reaching as high as 47 degrees Celsius within period of May end to June mid. The highest temperature recording in May 2010 was 49.2 degrees Celsius. Jalgaon receives about 700 mm rainfall during monsoons, followed by pleasant temperature in winter.
