Bhopal (/boʊˈpɑːl/; Hindustani pronunciation: [bʱoːpaːl]) is the capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of Bhopal district and Bhopal division. Ratlam pronunciation (Hindi: रतलाम), known historically as Ratnapuri (Sanskrit: रत्नपुरी, lit. gem city) is a city in the northwestern part of the Malwa region in Madhya Pradesh state of central India.
