Baranagar (Bengali: বরানগর) or Barahanagar, probably meaning town or land (Nagar) of the pig (Baraha), is a town in the northern outskirts of Kolkata. The city suffers from low literacy and pollution. The landowners of Firozabad hail from the Sayed, Manihar, Pathan and the Hindu Rajput castes.
